Education

Every Tennessean benefits from making strong public education a priority.  To achieve that we must fully fund the Basic Education Program (BEP) for our school districts across the state.  We need to improve teacher salaries attracting the best and brightest to the profession.  Advanced Placement classes and access to Dual Enrollment opportunities through our community colleges, colleges of applied technology (TCATs), and our state universities, should be available and affordable.  Instead of a focus on state testing for accountability, we need to focus testing for learning such as improving ACT scores, which can demonstrate that our students are college and career ready.
